Dragon Ball DAIMA Strikes Deal with Netflix for Global Release

The much-awaited series Dragon Ball DAIMA has unveiled its plans for a fall release on Netflix, adding considerable excitement to the build-up towards its premiere. This latest installment from the Dragon Ball franchise, which follows Dragon Ball Super, entrenches its global footprint, courtesy of Netflix's extensive coverage.

Release Date and Availability Details

As per Netflix’s statement on Platform X, global audiences can commence their Dragon Ball DAIMA viewing experience from October 18, 2024, while audiences in Asia get an early start on October 14, 2024. The precise release time on Netflix remains undisclosed. In addition to the Netflix platform, Dragon Ball DAIMA will also be accessible via Crunchyroll from October 11, 2024, ensuring its presence in territories like North America, Canada, Latin America, Brazil, South Africa, Southeast Asia, India, Australia, and New Zealand. Additionally, the series has a Japanese world premiere scheduled on October 6, with an English dubbed version set for a theatrical release in the U.S. from November 10 to 12, 2024.

Anticipated Success and Packed Release Schedule for Netflix Anime

The surprise decision to have Dragon Ball DAIMA stream on two major platforms- Netflix and Crunchyroll, effectively covers any regions potentially overlooked by Crunchyroll. Subsequent to the recent passing of Dragon Ball’s iconic creator, Akira Toriyama, who played an instrumental role in Dragon Ball DAIMA, the intense speculation and anticipation surrounding the series is predicted to significantly boost Netflix's reach.

Shared with the October 2024 release slot, Dragon Ball DAIMA accompanies other forecasted hit anime series including DAN DA DAN, the revamped Ranma 1/2, Blue Box, The Legend of Lara Croft, and Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance. Despite not being included in the simulcast agenda, DAIMA nonetheless contributes substantially to bolstering Netflix's diverse and increasingly recognized anime portfolio.

Dragon Ball DAIMA is touted as the new face of Dragon Ball, potentially succeeding where Dragon Ball Z's sequel, GT, fell short, in truly capturing the original series' essence and the spirit of Toriyama. Whether or not DAIMA matches the set expectations and honors Toriyama's prolific work, fans can now confidently anticipate a shared experience, thanks to DAIMA's worldwide Netflix release.
