What was your first experience with the internet?

Recommended Posts

We had WebTV. It was actually cool because we could sit comfy on our couch. Problem though, it tied up the phone line & was extremely slow. This was in 2000 or so. Anybody remember WebTV? I'm curious if others used it as their first experience.

Until about 2010 we had DSL that mostly could not do anything.  Streaming any sort of video required waiting a good 30 minutes for it to buffer and live streaming was basically not a thing.  So all the fancy services like WebTV were never a thing for me and most of the people I grew up with.

It was in the year 2000. I can't remember exactly which website I went to, but knowing what I was interested in at the time, it was probably something related to Lego 😛 .

It is amazing how popular Lego is.  Not only did it thrive post internet, but there are entire parts of the internet dedicated to it at this point.  Even the movies, shows, etc. show just how well Lego has done in world where tech has killed off a lot of toy products.

I think my first experience with the computer was using it to play flash games mostly. I would play them on the computer during lunchtime at school or in the computer class I was in. A lot of gaming sites were being blocked, but I even enjoyed the default games that came with the OS.

The first experience I had with the internet was playing an online PC game. It was a friend of mine who took me to where we played the game. I will never forget that experience for the rest of my life. It was after that experience that I was into into yahoo messenger.
