AMD vs Intel CPUs

With the launch of the new 5000 series AMD chips, Intel seems to be on a serous decline in the CPU world.  However, we are curious to what our legion prefers as most of our company runs of Intel and switching the AMD will be a decision coming up soon.

My laptop is running Intel and I do not plan to upgrade any day soon!

If you are asking me in context of the everyday usage, I'd say Intel CPUs are good for the casual usage. And you don't need AMD for that. However if you have gaming habit or you need the machine for the creator and the video editing part. You should be making use of the AMD whenever you are dealing with the graphics and the gaming like heavy gaming and the usage in that case.

I have noticed that AMD still needs some work in the server market.  Our home server still needs Intel due to many server apps using Intel only features like quicksnyc.

I don't have a preference in the home market, but I prefer Xeons in the server/workstation market.

I had good experiences with Xeon, granted they were limited experiences.  I never really played with AMD's Epic stuff.

I'm a server guy by trade, so I am biased in my line of work.

This is exactly what I'm currently using now in my HP laptop and it's serving me very well. So, I equally don't have any plans to upgrade or use anything different for now until something changes with Intel that I don't like.
