Boox is set to release the successor for its celebrated smartphone-size e-reader, the Palma 2. In answer to prior criticisms, the device sports a more impressive and agile processor to tackle the issue of a sluggish interface that plagued its predecessor and operates on an enhanced version of Android.

Price and Key Features of the New Palma 2

Listed for preorder from today, the Boox Palma 2 commands a price tag of $279.99. Available in ivory white and deep cyan black, its cost remains unaltered from the original Palma. Although it comes at a higher price than some high-grade e-readers such as the recently unveiled $199.99 Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, the perks offered by the new Palma 2 validate the cost difference. The immense popularity of the original Palma among e-reader users can be attributed to its compact form combined with a vast choice of applications. Adhering to this successful blueprint, the Palma 2 features the same 6.13-inch 300ppi E Ink Carta 1200 screen as its predecessor. It offers 6GB of RAM and substantial storage of 128GB, making it an agreeable alternative to the prevalent Kindle and Kobo.

Enhanced User Experience with Added Features

With the ambiance of anticipation surrounding its launch, Boox has disclosed that the Palma 2 operates on a "faster octa-core CPU," which is expected to expedite the user interface. Furthermore, the upgrade to Android 13 from Android 11 should extend the device's usability timeframe, even as app developers stop supporting the older versions of the OS. The other new introduction, the Boox Note Max, is a monochrome tablet, equipped with a stylus. It flaunts a more substantial 13.3-inch E Ink Carta 1300 screen, energized by a 2.8GHz octa-core CPU. Despite its larger size, the Note Max cuts a thinner figure than the Palma 2 at just 4.6 millimeters thick. However, unlike the other two devices announced today, the presales of the Boox Note Max have been deferred for a few more weeks.
